About Varihost

This project started as a personal design exercise inspired by Varihost — the hosting provider I use across many of my own projects. While the platform itself has always been reliable, I felt the branding and website experience no longer reflected the quality of the service behind it.

With no brief or commercial direction involved, I explored how a more modern identity and streamlined website could reposition Varihost as a more contemporary and approachable hosting company.

The concept focused on clarity, trust, and usability, combining cleaner visuals with a more structured user experience tailored toward developers, businesses, and everyday website owners.

Branding

A modern brand identity designed to reinforce trust and reliability

The branding concept aimed to move away from dated hosting industry visuals and create something cleaner and more confident. The updated logo explored sharper typography, simplified forms, and a more scalable visual system suited for both digital platforms and marketing materials.

A large focus of the redesign was refining the existing icon and modernising the overall wordmark without losing the recognisable identity Varihost already had. The updated typography introduced a bolder, more structured appearance while keeping the branding approachable and easy to recognise.

Colour exploration also played a key role throughout the concept phase. Early designs experimented with green tones as a nod to the original branding, helping retain some familiarity and continuity. While the green direction worked well visually, the final blue palette felt more aligned with the technology and hosting space — giving the brand a cleaner, more professional, and more contemporary feel.

The final direction balanced familiarity with a stronger digital-first identity, helping the brand feel more modern without losing its existing character.

Web Design

A clean, scalable experience designed for clarity and ease of use

The website concept focused heavily on simplifying navigation and improving the presentation of hosting products and services. Clear content hierarchy, structured layouts, and modern UI components helped make information easier to scan and compare.

The design also explored a more polished onboarding experience, with simplified calls-to-action, clearer pricing sections, and a more professional visual tone throughout the site.

Outcome

A polished visual refresh across branding and digital touchpoints

Although the project was purely a personal exercise, it became a valuable opportunity to explore a full visual refresh for a platform I use regularly. Reworking the brand and website helped me experiment with modern SaaS and hosting-focused design patterns while creating something grounded in a real-world product.

The final concept delivered a cleaner, more contemporary direction that better reflects the reliability and professionalism behind the Varihost platform.
