About Hobby Ceramicraft

This project began as a personal design exploration inspired by Hobby Ceramicraft, a ceramic studio supplies company I regularly use to order stock for Rainbow Pottery. While the business itself offers a fantastic range of products, I always felt the website and branding looked dated and no longer reflected the quality or creativity of the ceramics community it serves.

The goal of the project was to reimagine the brand with a cleaner, more modern visual identity and a more approachable online experience. Although the concept was never intended as a live commercial project, it became a great opportunity to stay creatively active and explore how thoughtful design could modernise a well-established supplier.

Branding

A refined visual identity designed to modernise a trusted ceramics supplier

The branding concept focused on creating something softer, cleaner, and more contemporary while still feeling creative and approachable. The updated logo direction explored simplified typography and subtle handcrafted influences inspired by pottery and studio work.

A warm, earthy colour palette helped reinforce the tactile and creative nature of ceramics, balancing professionalism with personality. The overall identity was designed to feel welcoming to both hobbyists and professional ceramic artists alike.

Web Design

A clean, user-friendly experience designed for easier product discovery

The website concept focused heavily on usability and structure, rethinking how customers browse products, discover supplies, and navigate categories. The aim was to simplify the shopping experience while creating a more visually engaging and modern interface.

Clean layouts, improved spacing, and stronger visual hierarchy helped make the content feel less overwhelming compared to the existing site. The concept also introduced clearer calls-to-action, modern product presentation, and a more responsive overall experience.

Outcome

A modernised design direction across branding and digital touchpoints

Although the project was created purely as a personal exercise, it became a valuable opportunity to explore how an established supplier could evolve visually without losing its identity.

The final concept successfully demonstrated how cleaner branding and a more considered user experience could bring new energy to the Hobby Ceramicraft brand while making the platform feel more aligned with today’s creative audience.
